Sometimes fiberglass sculptures need to be coated with the surface layer of the gel coat after painting. Because the gel coat has self-leveling property, and the gel coat layer has a certain flattening effect under the external tension during curing, it is not suitable to show fine texture in this situation. These should be considered in the design.
The original mold of Fiberglass sculpture can be molded with clay, and the ordinary mold is completed by professionals. After the completion of sculpture work, after natural boring and certain strength, the manufacture of Fiberglass sculpture mold can be stopped.
The second step: Fiberglass manufacturing, Fiberglass sculpture manufacturing by hand paste forming method. Before manufacturing, according to the shape characteristics of the sculpture, we will start from the angle of easy forming and demoulding, and can synthesize the mold into several units for turning. According to this, the unit products are formed, and then they are combined into a whole. Finally, the whole product is disposed of and painted, and a Fiberglass sculpture is finished.
The third step: mold manufacturing, mold manufacturing is the key to Fiberglass molding, Fiberglass sculpture mold manufacturing often uses gypsum. There is a better way to make Fiberglass sculpture mold, which is to use silicon rubber and Fiberglass materials to make the mold. The detailed mold manufacturing method is: the prepared silicone rubber shall be applied to the original mold several times, and the silicone rubber layer shall be more than 1mm later. After the silicone rubber is cross-linked, a glass fiber reinforced plastic layer with a thickness of about 3mm is formed on the silicone rubber. After the glass fiber reinforced plastic solidifies, cut the whole mold along the divided unit block. When cutting, pay attention to cutting the glass fiber reinforced plastic layer and silicone rubber layer at the same time. The connecting rib shall be made between the unit blocks, and the positioning groove shall be set at the connecting rib to ensure that the unit block mold can be integrated through the connecting rib. After the above work is completed, the Fiberglass unit block is demoulded, then the silicone rubber layer is removed, and the removed silicone rubber block is immediately put back into the Fiberglass unit mold.
Dedusting of the original mold → preparation of silicone rubber → manufacturing of silicone rubber layer → manufacturing of fiberglass layer → mold segmentation → manufacturing of connecting rib → demoulding and assembly of the mold.
Step 4: forming and manufacturing: Fiberglass sculpture adopts the method of hand lay-up, and the forming circuit shall be designed before manufacturing. Starting from one end of the sculpture, a part of the mold is combined to paste the product. After the former part is cured, the mold shall be combined and the product shall be pasted continuously. On the premise of easy forming operation, mold unit blocks are combined as much as possible at one time. In this way, a unit block is left at last, which is pre-molded and then glued to the overall sculpture. In fiberglass sculpture, the corners, legs, tails and other parts that are similar to animals that are difficult to be made by the above methods can be made into approximate shapes with corresponding metal materials, and then fiberglass is formed on the metal materials, which are polished and trimmed.
